55 sustainable brands awarded at the international GREEN BRANDS gala in Vienna

The international organization GREEN BRANDS awarded awards at a gala evening to brands from three countries that met the ecological sustainability requirements of the rigorous evaluation process. The event was attended by representatives of the award-winning brands and members of the expert jury from Hungary, the Czech Republic and Austria.

The event is the largest gala evening in the history of GREEN BRANDS to date, with the awards ceremony being missed in several countries last year due to the coronavirus epidemic. Therefore, on 15 September 2021, jury members and representatives of sustainable brands from three countries met at the historic Palais Niederderösterreich in Vienna, which was also a great opportunity to form new partnerships. The gala evening is traditionally held with the support of important personalities of Austrian public life. Guests included Leonore Gewessler, Austrian Minister for the Environment, Transport, Innovation and Technology, and Werner Kogler, Austrian Vice-Chancellor.

During the ceremonial program, 55 brands from the three countries received the award, which includes a 3D-printed trophy made from renewable raw materials in addition to the trademark. Thanks to the GREEN BRANDS brand, customers can be better informed in this area and support brands that are committed to protecting nature and our environment.

“The GREEN BRANDS Certificate is not only an advantage in reaching environmentally conscious customers. Companies exporting to Western countries, especially to Germany, can also gain a competitive advantage, new business relationships by proving their sustainable operation.” – said András Wiszkidenszky, Regional Director of GREEN BRANDS in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The topic of responsible, sustainable management is very complex, and its authentic communication in the media requires completely new, specific approaches. These efforts are also rewarded by the Austrian Environmental Journalism Award, the winners of four categories (digital media, print media, TV, Radio) have also traditionally been announced at the GREEN BRANDS awards gala.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the GREEN BRANDS Personality of the Year Awards, which are given to celebrities whose activities make a significant contribution to the media coverage of sustainability. The Austrian prize was won by the famous musician and writer Hubert von Goisern, and for the first time in Hungary, Csaba Gyetván YouTuber, the host of Discovery Channel, won the audience vote. Unusually, for the first time in Hungary, the award was announced in a professional category, which was awarded by the expert jury to economist and environmental engineer Gréta Nagy.
